Day 0: Leave the US from Boston, NY, Minneapolis, or Orlando. Go to sleep - as it’s a short night flight!

Day 1: Welcome to Iceland! Grab your luggage, your car, and hit the road! You could explore the Reykjanes Peninsula and start your exploration with Icelands most famous hot spring -- the Blue Lagoon. It’s vivid blue waters have been soothing and amusing people for decades -- make sure you sample the silica mud! Then head into Reykjavik, where you can check into your Fosshotel for the night. Explore Iceland’s capital city, and enjoy some geothermal waters a bit more tamed - in the many geothermal swimming pools. Lots of good restaurants, too.

Days 2,3,4: Head out to the original boiling water spout -- Geysir, to watch hot water shooting out of the ground. Then to the double falls at Gulfoss, and the ancient parliament site at Thingvellir. Then head a bit north to the Fosshotel Reykholt, where you’ll spend 3 nights. This is Iceland’s first hotel devoted to both medieval studies and well being!! Not just hot tubs, but aromatherapy, light therapy, massage and a great restaurant! You’ll have a day to explore the saga valleys and historical sights around Reykholt, home of Iceland’s famous Saga writer, Snorri Sturulusson - nearly as well known now as he was in the 13th century! Take in the famous lava falls at Hraunfossar, perhaps get to the nearby Langjokull glacier. You’ll also have a day to explore the maritime villages of Snaefellsness peninsula, perhaps climbing its glacier.

Days 5,6, Drive north, stopping at Sauðárkrókur, the unique Grettislaug natural hot pool for a soak, before heading east to Akureyri, the capital of the north, then Goðafoss –the waterfall of the gods. Spend the next 2 nights at Fosshotel Húsavík, a whale-themed accommodation, as this town is the whale watching capital of Iceland. From here you can explore the geothermal wonders of Lake Myvatn, with its birds and lava fields, soak in Myvatn Nature Baths, Iceland’s newest geothermal spa. Midnight golf is a mid summer option too!

Day 7:: Back south taking in some sights along the way, for hiking, photographing, seeing volcanos, waterfalls, and glaciers! On to Reykjavik in time for a great dinner at one of the capital’s many fine restaurants. Overnight in one of the Fosshótels there or similar.

Day 8: You have the morning to relax, see Reykjavik, do museums, shops, pools or the Blue Lagoon. Drop car at airport and hop on the plane for home!
