Lava Tour - duration 2-3 hrs. - leaves Reykjavik daily at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm - 4600 ISK - Lava Tour w/ Lunch - This is an adventurous introductory ride. You will go either into the lava fields surrounding Mt Helgafell volcano or to Lake Hvaleyrarvatn. The horses are suited to both beginner and experienced riders so everyone will be comfortable and relaxed. The Lava Tour includes an Icelandic lunch can be added for another 1500 ISK Geysir/Gulfoss - duration 2 hr ride with lunch and an afternoon bus tour to Geysir and Gullfoss (8-9 hr total) - (leaves Reykjavik hotels and guesthouses daily at 9:00 am) 7700 ISK Your short morning ride will be followed by a sumptuous lunch at Josalir Restaurant at the Riding Center. Then you will continue by bus to Geysir hot spring area and the Gulfoss waterfall. In the summer months, a trip to Thingvellir National Park is also included before you return to Reykjavik. Not only do they include a helmet, rain or warm outfit, gloves, boots, and guide but you also get schnapps and coffee! Blue Lagoon - duration 1 1/2 hr ride with 1 1/2 hrs at Blue Lagoon (5-6 hr total) - (leaves Reykjavik hotels and guesthouses daily at 9:00 am) 7700 ISK Once again your morning ride is followed by lunch at Josalir Restaurant at the Riding Center. After lunch you will take a bus to Blue Lagoon where you will have 1 1/2 hours to soak in the mineral rich, healing waters before the before the bus ride back to Reykjavik. If you are on your way out of Iceland, a transfer to Keflavik airport can be had. A lovely day's end to your Icelandic adventure. Mountain Meadows or Soft River Banks - duration half-day - leaves Reykjavik at 8:20-8:45 am and 1:20-1:45 pm $65 The weather and trail conditions determine whether this ride follows the old route along Mt Ingolfsfjall, named after the first Norwegian Viking who settled Iceland, or if it will follow the Olfusa River and go down through the meadows. Either way it is a pretty half day ride and a great way to get to know the Icelandic horse. Twilight Zone - duration evening - pick up at hotels in Reykjavik 4:00 pm 4600 ISK In just a 1 1/2 hour ride you will see lava fields, mountains and lush fields.
Thingvellir at Midnight - duration 5 1/2 hrs (3 hours riding) - leaves Reykjavik daily at 6:00 pm 7500 ISK This is a different short tour as it takes place in the evening instead of the middle of the day. The light and air are different and the National Park has a unique feel. You will ride through the park for about 3 hours and return to Reykjavik at 11:30 pm. Thingvellir Adventure - duration 8 hours (5 hours riding) - leaves Reykjavik daily at 9:00 am 7500 ISK A wonderful day of riding and adventure in Thinvellir National Park. The bus will pick you up at 9:00 am and take you right to Thingvellir. This park offers some of the most magnificent landscape in all of Iceland. Hot Springs Visit - duration 9 hrs (20 km ride) - leaves Reykjavik daily at 8:20-8:45 am $120 This tour takes its riders to the top of an active volcano to take in a view that reaches as far as the Westman Islands and Lake Thingvallavatn. The horses follow soft paths through the lava until they reach the hot springs of Reykjadalur where everyone can relax in a warm stream. Bring along a swimsuit and towel. A box lunch is included. Back to Nature Tour - duration 12-13 hrs - leaves Reykjavik Thurs., Fri., and Sat. at 9:00 am 10,800 ISK It's hard to believe that this much could be packed into a single day's tour. This one takes the best that Iceland has to offer in several areas! The day begins with a cruise on a whale watching boat looking for whale and dolphin. After lunch the wonderful Icelandic horses will be waiting to take you for a 2 hour ride. The next 1 1/2 hours will be spent soaking away all of your cares (if you have any left at this point) in the healing waters of the Blue Lagoon. Now, relaxed and refreshed you are heading back to the Ishestar Riding Center for a sumptuous dinner. During dinner you will be entertained by an Icelandic folk singer who will encourage everyone to join in the singing from the Ishestar songbook. You will return to your hotel at about 10:00 pm. |
